LIFELINE were delighted when they were asked by Newcastle City and North Tyneside Councils to consider a 6 month pilot scheme to transfer their patients that were, or about to be sectioned under the Mental Health Act, 2007, usually 4,5,12,17,and 117. This type of transport provision all, becamel possible because of LIFELINE’s registration with the CQC.
Working with the Council’s Mental Health Teams and AMHPs LIFELINE developed a system where they could guarantee to be at the point of collection, within 1 hour. With the help of the Council, LIFELINE soon had staff
trained to the required standard. The local Police wanted LIFELINE to be involved more, to relieve their officers of their duty, and required that LIFELINE staff should have training in handcuffs as well as restraint and control.
